New Australian study reveals breakthrough in tooth decay

Recently a study done at UQ shows the connection between education and tooth decay in toddlers

In a bid to lower tooth decay in young children, a study conducted in Brisbane’s south where 23% of toddlers suffer from oral health issues, researched the link between education and tooth decay. The researchers found preventive strategies as simple as a phone call could be the solution to the high percentage of toddler tooth decay.

The study, which followed 1000 mothers and their infants, educated mothers on proper oral hygiene for infants and toddlers by utilising at-home visits and even phone calls. The results were astounding, where the phone calls reduced the decay rate down to 7%, the home visits reduced the rate of decay down to just 2%!

Preventive dentistry with Advanced Dental…

If you are worried about your child developing decay, at our Gold Coast Clinic we offer dental sealants which are a minimally invasive treatment that helps prevent decay before it appears!

Sealants are beneficial for all ages including children, adolescents and adults. Applied to the chewing surface of the tooth, sealants stop decay-causing bacteria from reaching the pits and fissures of the teeth.

Give your child the best start with us at Advanced Dental Care Clinic on the Gold Coast, where we endeavour to achieve your perfect smile for life.
