What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign® is a series of virtually invisible aligners that are custom made to fit over your teeth snugly. These aligners apply light pressure to gradually move your teeth into the desired positions. Every aligner moves the teeth slightly and they are changed every 1-2 weeks to guide the teeth through the movements we planned for them. The Invisalign® trays are worn for approximately 22 hours a day, aside from eating, flossing and brushing, to achieve the maximum effect. The length of treatment depends on the specific circumstances of your teeth. This can vary from 4 months up to 18 months.

Treatment process for Invisalign®

  1. Come in for your Invisalign® and smile assessment to find out whether Invisalign® is right for you!
  2. Record taking including photos and impressions
  3. Once the planning done and the 3D simulation is ready, you can virtually see what your smile could look like at the end! At this stage, the treatment time, cost, and how to best achieve the results you want can be estimated and discussed, then we get started!
  4. Your first aligner will arrive in a few weeks’ time. To help the teeth move, we place white “buttons” or “attachments” on them that also help to engage the aligners. We sometimes need to trim the teeth ever so slightly to create space for teeth to line up.
  5. We will see you once every 4-8 weeks to check that the teeth are moving according to plan, and make sure everything is in tip top condition.
  6. At the end of treatment, we remove the white “attachments”, give you removable retainers which are similar to your aligners, or we place fixed retainer wires to make sure the new straight teeth won’t move
  7. Viola!! Now it’s time to smile big and show off your new straight, beautiful smile!

  • You can still easily clean your teeth as per usual by taking out the aligner during cleaning, so there is much less chance to have cavities during Invisalign® treatment. If our teeth were to require fillings, it is very simple to treat.
  • The best part is that you can still eat, floss, brush and live normally by simply taking the aligners out to enjoy good food, and keeping your teeth clean and healthy. They can be removed for special occasions if you feel better without them, just be sure to put them back in as soon as possible!
