Knocked out tooth? Act Fast!

A missing tooth can be a cause for embarrassment and make a big difference to your appearance. If a tooth gets knocked out, don’t procrastinate, take action straight away and you might actually be able to save it.

A missing tooth at the front looks bad, but what if it’s a missing tooth towards the back? Do you worry less because it’s not as noticeable?

No, the issue with a missing tooth is that it gives all those other perfectly straight teeth room to move, and why wouldn’t you stretch out if you have room. As teeth move it can completely transform the dynamics of your mouth.

So, what do you need to do?

Act quickly. You have approximately 15 minutes to get to your nearest dentist to save your tooth.

Step 1 – Find the tooth

Step 2 – Handling the tooth by the surface, not the root, rinse off any dirt using water only.

Step 3 – If possible, place the tooth back in its socket as soon as you can and hold the tooth in place securely. If you can’t place the tooth back into its socket, either place it in your cheek, between your cheek and your teeth or place it in a glass of milk until you can get to the dentist. It’s essential to keep the tooth moist but avoid using tap water if possible.

Step 4 – Get to a dentist as soon as possible. The sooner you can get to a dentist, the more likely it that the tooth can be saved.
